BIO
Los Angeles native Dean Hendler fell in love with photography at the age of eight, mesmerized by the magic he witnessed in his father’s darkroom. By thirteen, he and his best friend Larry were sneaking his first SLR camera and a “borrowed” 300mm lens into the Fabulous Forum to capture Paul McCartney & Wings’ 1976 tour. That rush of being in the moment hooked him for life.

A graduate of UCLA’s film school, Dean has built a multifaceted career spanning television, film, and fine art. For more than two decades, he has specialized in creating prop and set dressing photography for award-winning productions—shooting crime scene stills for CBS’s Criminal Minds and CSI, among countless other projects. His client list reads like a roll call of major studios and brands: Amazon, ABC, Apple TV+, CBS, Disney, Fox, HBO, Hulu, NBC, Netflix, Paramount+, Showtime, Sony, Playboy, Warner Bros., EA Games, VISA, AT&T, McDonald’s, and the U.S. Navy.
Dean thrives in the collaborative energy of a set, working closely with directors, producers, actors, art directors, prop masters, and crews to bring stories to life. Inspired by Jay Maisel’s philosophy of “capturing the light, color, and gesture of everyday life,” Dean’s photography reflects his global travels and deep love of food, music, and culture. His images can be found in both private and commercial collections worldwide.
