Bio
Dean Hendler is a photographic artist based in Los Angeles, CA. His work explores light, atmosphere, and everyday environments. A native Angeleno, his introduction to photography began at the age of eight in his father’s darkroom, where he developed an early sensitivity to light, process, and the magic of photography.
A graduate of UCLA’s film program, he has built a multifaceted career that bridges fine art and the entertainment industry. For over two decades, he has created prop and set dressing photography for film and television, contributing to acclaimed productions including Criminal Minds and CSI. His client list spans major studios and global brands such as Amazon, Apple TV+, CBS, Disney, HBO, Netflix, Warner Bros. and the US Navy, to name a few.
Influenced by the philosophy of photographer Jay Maisel, Dean approaches image-making as an act of observation, attuned to the interplay of light, color, and gesture. His photographs reflect a life shaped by travel, culture, music, and cuisine. Each image captures a distinct sense of place and moment. His work is held in both private and commercial collections globally.
