BIO

Los Angeles native, Dean Hendler discovered photography at age 8 while observing his father working magic in the darkroom. His passion for photography and music started at age 13. Later that year, he and his best friend, Larry, smuggled his first SLR camera and “rented” 300 mm lens into the Fabulous Forum to photograph Paul McCartney & Wings 1976 Tour. Buzzing with excitement, being in the moment, Dean was hooked forever!

After graduating from UCLA film school, he has built a career that continues to combine his artistic talents in the world of tv, film and fine art. For over two decades, Dean’s day job has been to create prop and set dressing photos for award winning film and tv projects such as crime scene photos for CBS’ “Criminal Minds” and “CSI ”, family photos for NBC’s “This is Us”, along with billboard and calendar photos for Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendales”. Dean thrives in the creative and collaborative process, working with directors, producers, actors, art directors, prop masters and the entire crew.

He is motivated by acclaimed photographer Jay Maisel ‘s style of “Capturing the light, color & gesture of everyday life”. Dean’s work displays an influence of his many global explorations: love of fine food, music and culture, which can be seen in private and commercial collections worldwide.
